“Firewheels” Indian Blanket Flower Oil Painting, 24x24 inches

“Firewheels” is another name for Indian Blanket Flower (Gaillardia), the brightly colored state flower of Oklahoma and honors the state's Native American heritage. It is also a cousin of the sunflower. I think we can all take a lesson from these hearty flowers which are native and important to the prairies of the Midwest. They are drought and heat tolerant and not too picky about the soil conditions. They provide nectar to honey bees and seeds for birds and blooms abundantly. “Bloom where you’re planted."

An original oil painting, 24x24 inches, on gallery-wrapped canvas. The sides are painted to coordinate and enhance the painting.

This painting is unframed. If you would like my studio to help coordinate framing, we are happy to do that! Email sharon@sharonsudduthart.com.

The oil painting on canvas is built layer by layer until what you now see emerges — vibrant and complex. This piece is absolutely stunning and radiates beauty and possibility.

It was created as a part of the “Celebrating Home” Collection. Learn more about this collection and the inspiration behind it HERE.
